Mike Fox, owner of Boardworks and former Hawaiian lifeguard, has teamed up with California lifeguard Steve Reuter, a rescue equipment designer. Together they have developed a line of Rescue Boards designed to be stronger, safer and more innovative than current market offerings.
Reuter has been a professional lifeguard since 1976 and works as a rescue boat captain in Southern California. He has been awarded the Medal of Valor for bravery, twice. When not saving lives Reuter enjoys surfing, scuba diving and sailing.
Fox matches Reuter's love for the the ocean. He is also an avid waterman who enjoys surfing, paddling and competitive swimming. At the 2010 United States Lifesaving Association National Championships in Huntington Beach Fox had two first place finishes in his division.
Drawing on these experiences, Boardworks is building three types of craft for water rescue professionals to use in emergencies ranging from swift water rescue to flood and ocean rescues. The product will launch at the the Firehouse World in San Diego later this month and continue on to other shows.
